Clay is an earth, resulting from the metamorphosis of a rock, naturally rich in mineral salts. It is found in deposits of varying size, mostly exploited in open-cast mines. It is the first natural medicine known to man. It has been recognized and used for its therapeutic virtues for centuries. A true living substance endowed with natural intelligence, clay is distinguished by its two main properties of absorption and adsorption, which allow it to exchange impurities and toxins absorbed for minerals.
Preparing the clay paste: Pour the desired amount of green clay into a glass or wooden container. Add a volume of spring water to completely immerse the clay. Let stand for about half an hour and then stir with a non-metallic spatula to obtain a smooth paste. Surfine Green Clay can be used alone or combined with essential oils.
As a beauty mask: Apply the clay paste in a thick layer to the face and neck, avoiding the eye and lip area. Leave on for about 10 minutes without letting the mask dry on the skin. Rinse with warm water and dry. Complete the treatment by applying a moisturizing cream adapted to your skin type.
As a poultice: Place the clay paste on a natural textile. Spread the clay with a non-metallic spatula over a thickness of 2 to 3 cm. Place the poultice, leaving the clay in direct contact with the skin, and hold it (without tightening it too much) with a bandage. If the poultice is to be applied to an irritated area, place a light gauze between the clay and the skin. Leave the poultice on for one hour. To remove it, remove as much clay as possible, if necessary by moistening it, then rinse the skin with lukewarm water and dry.
In clay water: Pour one to two teaspoons of green clay into a glass and add spring water. Mix with a non-metallic spatula. Wait for the clay to settle back to the bottom and use only the clay water.
